How Artists from the 1970s Envisioned the Future of Space Colonization

Back in the summers of the 70s, NASA held a series of workshops where artists were asked to imagine the future of space colonization.

The artwork that resulted from the experimental exploration could actually define recent sci-fi trends, as seen for example in Blomkamp's dystopian film Elysium.

It's safe to say the vision back then wasn't too far from the predictions of today, since we're still obviously a few generations away before seeing any of these futuristic artificial villages orbiting around our planet or distant stars. But one should remember that we still don't fly cars either. Being late on predictions doesn't signify that it's not going to happen. In the meantime, enjoy the artworks of our space prophets.
